You have significant control over the number of reviews your book receives. There are several key factors to consider when you want to decrease or increase the number of reviews your book is receiving.
Overview of Token System
You must have enough tokens to list your book in our Review Library. To collect tokens, you'll need to submit reviews of other authors' books. A steady and robust supply of tokens is critical to increasing your review rate.
We Intentionally Restrict Review Rates
We've designed our membership to limit the number of reviews a member can submit within a specific timeframe. This is for two important reasons:
-
Protecting your Amazon account: Authors who submit excessive reviews in a short period risk having their review privileges banned with all reviews given in the past deleted.
-
Protecting your book: Amazon may also ban books that receive a sudden influx of reviews, often permanently. We certainly don't want you to risk losing the very thing you were trying to promote!
While pacing your reviews helps protect your account and book, it also affects the rate at which you earn tokens. However, there are plenty of ways to boost your token earnings, even with these limitations.
Decreasing Reviews
This is the easy part! Simply submit your book to the library less frequently.
Increasing Reviews
Many factors influence the number of reviews your books receive within our community. To understand this better, it's helpful to familiarize yourself with how our token system works. Essentially, it operates on a supply and demand model, which directly impacts the review volume your books can achieve.
Understanding the Factors that Drive Success
Earning book reviews is crucial for authors, and this section explores the key factors that influence your success within our community.
The Impact of Genre
A book's genre and subject matter significantly influence how often it gets reviewed. Books with wider appeal, belonging to popular genres and targeting a broad audience, naturally receive reviews more quickly. Conversely, books focused on niche subjects or aimed at a narrow audience tend to gather reviews at a slower pace.
For example, a contemporary romance novel with a captivating love story will likely receive more reviews faster than a highly specialized academic text on ancient Mesopotamian pottery.
The Effort Factor
The length and complexity of your book also play a role in the number of reviews you receive. A short, easy-to-read book, like childrens books, coloring books, or puzzle books, requires minimal time and effort to review. However, a lengthy or technically complex book demands more time and concentration from the reviewer.
This increased time commitment naturally reduces the pool of potential reviewers willing to take on the task. Additionally, the reviewers who are interested in these types of books will naturally take longer to complete and submit their reviews which causes the review rate to be a little slower.
Increase Your Review Rate
While some factors like genre and book length are fixed, don't worry! We'll share proven strategies that help you overcome these hurdles and increase your chances of getting more reviews.
Your Book Cover Matters
The quality of your book cover significantly impacts how many reviews it receives. Since the cover is prominently displayed in our review library, a well-designed, eye-catching cover naturally attracts more reviewers. Think of it as your book's first impression – a compelling cover entices potential reviewers to learn more and potentially leave a review.
Active Participation
Your activity level within the community directly impacts the number of reviews your book receives. To earn enough tokens to keep your book listed and available for review, you need to actively participate by reviewing other authors' books.
But it doesn't stop there! Consistent monitoring is essential. When your book is selected for review, promptly re-list it in the library to maximize your visibility and attract new reviewers. The faster you re-list, the sooner you'll get more reviews.
In short, your active involvement and effort are crucial for generating a steady stream of reviews.
The Number of Books You Have
The number of books you list also impacts your review rate. Listing multiple books requires more tokens to keep them all circulating in the review library. To maximize reviews for a specific book, consider temporarily removing others from your library. Naturally people with one book will get more reviews for that book. However, people who have multiple books may get the same number of reviews, but they'll be spread out among all their books.
The Impact of Country Settings
Where you allow your book to be reviewed significantly impacts your review rate. While our community started in the US, we've expanded internationally. If you're struggling to get reviews, consider opening your book to reviewers in more countries. This broadens your potential reviewer pool and can even boost sales in those international Amazon marketplaces. Verified Purchase reviews from other countries will still appear on your amazon.com account in the "Reviews From Other Countries" area. Strategically targeting countries with less competition might be a way to increase both reviews and sales.
How Review Options Affect Your Review Rate
One of the biggest factors that can increase your review rate is selecting the correct review options for your book. We’ll go over each of the categories and explain why adding the category could increase your review rate.
PDF, Epub, and PermaFree Reviews
These are our free review options. Adding these options to your book will attract more reviewers as there is no cost to them to review your book.
Many authors have a PDF version of their book listed as a review option, but decline to offer the Epub version. It may seem like a minor omission but you’ll be surprised at how many reviewers prefer the Epub and specifically search for books that offer this review option.
Keep in mind that these reviews do not show up as Verified Purchases so it’s best for your Amazon account health to mix these reviews with Verified Purchase or Kindle Unlimited reviews as your book can be flagged for abnormal behavior if you are only getting non-purchase reviews.
Kindle Unlimited
This is by far our most popular review option and if you have not added this to your book you’re missing out on a lot of reviews. Kindle Unlimited reviews are great because they often come up as a Verified Purchase review which lends credibility to your book. You also get page reads which can earn you income.
Purchase Amazon Kindle or Paperback Book on Amazon
We’ve noticed that a lot of our members are missing out on offering these review options. You may think that authors won’t want to spend money on books, but many of our author’s are very busy and prefer to purchase and review books to get the extra tokens. Verified Purchase reviews are also very important to a balanced review capturing strategy.

The Solution To Every Issue - Bonuses
Concerned that your genre or book's complexity might hinder your review rate? No problem! Our bonus system lets you incentivize reviewers, effectively overcoming these challenges. Simply offer a bonus to make your book more appealing. To find the sweet spot, check out similar books and see what size bonus they're offering. This system is especially helpful for those in an active promo period or those with niche genres or complex books who want to boost their review count. The bonus system provides immediate control over your review volume – it's all about finding the bonus that works for you!
